Making sense of electric vehicle tax credits and incentives
If you were thinking about purchase a low speed three or four wheeled vehicle, now is the time. There are both tax exemptions and tax credits in place, which will be ending on December 31, 2009. If you purchase a 3 wheeled vehicle like a Xebra truck or sedan, you will receive a 10% federal tax credit up to $2500 maximum. If you purchase a four wheeled electric vehicle like a Kurrent, you will receive a $2500 tax credit ! Plus you do not have to pay sales tax.

With Nissan’s new LEAF, amongst other viable electric automobiles poised to come out, one has to wonder what cabal of nitwits, in what P.J. O’Rourke called “a parliament of whores,” aka Congress, decided to allow these exemptions to expire.
Moreover, why wasn’t the White House on top of this? Guess there weren’t enough lobbyists greasing the wheels - pun intended - to ensure the exemptions were kept.
